I've applied to the post office for a mortgage. However the solictor they recommended for me, has a very bad reputation and I've read enough online to know I don't want to use them.
However it appears the PO are trying to coerce applicants to use this firm by not providing a list of solictors who are on their panel.
Anyway I managed to find one that was on there panel, when instructing them the solictor was informed they had been removed from the panel due to lack of applicants coming through them.
However they have been told they will be re-admitted to the panel when they have a new mortgage applicant. Ive instructed the solictor to apply, however the solictor is still waiting to hear if they have been re-admitted.
Also after finally having my mortgage application accepted I have been told I need to pay the mortgage application fee within 3 days or the application will fall through. this was 2 days ago
