I own 50% share in a shared ownership property which I bought when I was single 6 years ago. I am now married and we were thinking of selling the share and moving house. However on looking around at houses the ones available for our budget are no better or bigger than the property we currently live in. Therefore we are considering staircasing so that we own the property outright.
The mortgage is in just my name and we want to more or less double the mortgage and have it in both our names. How is this done and do we need to put another deposit down for the other 50% share?
