The impossible question I know, but is there a general consensus on interest rate moves over the next 5 years or so. Reading around some expect interest rates to remain at 0.5%for another few years and then only rise slowly, is this the perceived wisdom?
I ask because I'm torn in what to do next
I am on a svr of 2.5% with c&g, no real need to move but have been keeping an eye on mortgage rates in case a good deal came along, up til now I have been put off by the £1000 arrangement fees but I have to admit to being tempted by britannias 5year fix at 2.79% with no fees (they also look like have free legals and valuation). I quite like the idea of a fix at this level....more so if rates are going to rise....less keen if rates are going to stay same as I will end up on a higher svr at the end of the Britannia deal.
Any thoughts?
