"Registering" your address for credit rating purposes

Hi All

Has anyone had this problem before ?

My address is "Flat 1, X Building".
For some reason the post office has the address registered as "Flats 1 -3, X Building".

Some of my post is addressed to Flat 1, some to Flats 1-3 - not a problem, as I get it either way.

However, Equifax is listing that I (a) am not on the Electoral Roll and (b) have no credit agreements registered to my address. This is having quite a serious impact on my credit rating. They consider my address to be "Flats 1-3" only, as this is what is registered with the Post Office. Anything registered to "Flat 1" only does not register with them.

I am on the electoral roll and I do have a credit card - both registered to my "Flat 1" address.

I have had a frustrating call with Equifax who say they will not correct this on my credit report unless I get the Post Office to "register my actual address". They gave me a number to call that does not work.

Has anyone had to do this before ?
How did you go about it ?

Will obviously call the Post Office tomorrow, but any pointers from anyone with experience with this would be useful as we are somewhat up against the clock.

Thanks
