My husband and I have applied for a mortgage with halifax got a decision in principle went to full application but got declined, my husband has a default which is only 15 months old, this is in dispute with a old bank account Santander and the financial ombudmons is investigating the default was for £27.00 but with charges £110.00 he did not no about the default until we checked his credit report (long story) anyway mortgage was declined, we have appealed this and will find out more tommorow, the manager at halifax mortages advised us to write a letter explaining what the default is etc and why which we have done so! We have perfect credit otherwise we both got a credit card each to build our credit we clear it on full each month, we also have a deposit off £110.000 so only need a mortage for £125.000 what do you think the chances are of this appeal being successfull?
