Mortgage- Partly Commission Based Income & Foreign Wife :-S

I'm in a sticky situation with my mortgage application that I could use some help with.

Firstly somethings that are working in my favour and I'm really fortunate to have. Both my wife and I have relatively good jobs. I'm 28 and earn around £35-40k pa that nets me around £2k per month after tax, NI and student loans. My wife's 21 and has recently stated a graduate position and currently gets paid £25k pa with a 10% bonus.

We're also really lucky to have up to 40% deposit (£100k) to put down on a house with about £250k.

Now the things that are working against us-

My wages are made up of £25k basic with £12.5k coming from commission. This commission has been consistent over the last 9 months (when I started the job) and my wages only really fluctuate around £100 either side of £2k. All the lenders I've spoken to so far have said that they would only take my basic in to consideration. Is there any lender people can suggest I talk to that would for example look average earnings and not just my basic wage?

The other big issue is that my wife is American. She's currently here on a spouse visa and will be for the next 18 months. Many lenders have said for that reason alone they won't take her income in to consideration. Has anyone had this issue before, have you got any tips?

Essentially we have an "income" of more than £60k per year with a 40% deposit to buy a £250k house. However currently we're being treated as one person with a £25k income wanting to borrow £150k.

Can anyone give me any tips of what I could do to help, or lender I should be talking to?

Thanks,

Spamalot

Edit- I also wanted to add that I currently have an Experian score of 978.
