Details of buying a house

Hi all

Finally after all the searching, waiting and failing we have had an offer accepted on a house. We did a new DIP last night with nationwide which they agreed to.

However I was going to submit the full application last night however it asked for house details such as build year etc, so of course could not. I presume I pick up all these details from the estate agents when I drop the DIP in?

Also going to speak to a few solicitors on the nationwide panel for the best price on Monday morning.

I also wonder if anyone has experience with gifted deposits? We will be partially paying deposit ourselves and part as a gift from parents. Do I need to ask the parents to draft a letter to advise its a gift to send to nationwide? Or does this need to be done through solicitor?

Also the lady we are buying off has another house however she wants to do some building work on it she feels it will be done in time however I said we can delay by 4 weeks as we are in no rush.

While delaying the completion date(date we receive the keys) I presume the property is not ours so we do not incur any mortgage charges or bills etc?.

These are questions I will sort next week, but with the excitement it would be good to get some insight now!
