FTB mortgage application - credit check query

Hello all,

My boyfriend and I got a decision in principle from Nationwide this week on one of their Save To Buy mortgages.

With it being a 5% mortgage, I understand the lending criteria is extremely strict, and I've got a question regarding how good your credit score has to be to pass the full application test.

The reason I ask (aside from the obvious one) is because my boyfriend (who I'm applying for the mortgage with) had two credit checks carried out by Nationwide as part of the decision in principle process.

He discovered this after reviewing his information on Experian, which showed that Nationwide did one while ascertaining his identity and another involving a search using my date of birth on his file, which sounds like a mistake to me.

As a result of these two checks, his credit score has been bumped down from excellent to good, so we're a bit concerned by what this might mean for the outcome of our full application.

Any advice would be gratefully received.
