Applying for a new mortgage

Hi, about a year and a half ago i moved out of the house that i brought with my ex wife and moved back home and have decided that i want to move out now into my own place. My name is still on the old mortgage which she pays. But i want to apply for a new mortgage will this effect me? She is in the process or remortgaging so i should be off it soon. Should i wait or should i start looking around?
