I need to discharge a 2nd charge on my property, which as I understand it is relatively simple matter and for a solicitor, shouldn't take to much work, but the conveyancing solicitor I've approached is asking for £450! Firstly I'd like to know if this fee is fair or should I look for another solicitor. Secondly, since the 2nd charge is an individual and we have agreed the amount payable, can we discharge the charge ourselves, or do we need solicitors to do it, bearing in my solicitors were involved when the loan was given and the charge registered in the first place.
