Survey on a new(ish) build?

Hi all,

Valuation went unchallenged the other day, so just waiting for underwriter to sign us off on mortgage approval... touch wood!

The flat is leasehold and only built in 2000 (quite modern design), and husband doesn't think we need to bother with survey as a result.

I think we should to cover our backs, though money is tight until completion so if we can save on something then we want to.

Is it worth getting it done or not? And if so, any recommendations on companies in the Essex / London area and prices that are reasonable to pay for a pretty new 2 bed flat...?
