Myself and my husband are currently applying for a Halifax mortgage and, for complicated reasons, I don't have my driving licence so the only ID I have is my passport. However, this is in my maiden name so I supplied my marriage certificate to show change of name.
But the broker is saying Halifax won't accept this and therefore the mortgage will have to be in my maiden name. Our solicitor is very surprised they won't accept the marriage certificate..Anyone have any experience of this?
Can/should I lean on Halifax directly to get them to accept this? There's no chance of my driving licence being available anytime soon (annoyingly, but that's another story!)
