Hi All,
This forum has helped me reduce my debt, focus and plan for my future but am looking for a 'little' help for a friend.
The situation is as follows;
Friend has a joint mortgage with ex girlfriend, no longer lives in property or pays towards mortgage.
The ex lives in the house or more recently rents the house out to tennants. (unsure if this is a legally operated rental or if any profit is being made).
The mortgage is on default arrears of two/three months. Has secured loans in addition to the mortgage in the ex's name only.
How can my friend go about removing her name from the mortgage and associated debt. Can this be enforced with the use of a solicitor or lawyer.
The ex girlfriend is refusing to dicuss or commit to any changes and I am looking to help resolve the situation.
Where do we begin collating basic information, looking at laws and the mortgage contract with a view to working out a way for my friend to get out of this royal mess .... we did warn her but to no avail.
We also understand that a lawyer or solicitor is required but are looking to gain a basic understanding first and gleaning as much information as possible before approaching family lawyers.
Any help would be very much appreciated and i thank you in advance for any help or advice/suggestions that can be offered.
Please could you PM any ideas, suggestions, contacts or previous experiences as I think this is going to be a tough one for them to deal with.
Thanks Again
Alun :-)
