Hi, ive never had a mortgage before nor have i ever had any kind of dealings with a solicitor, what i would like to know is when do i get a solicitor involved?

Right now i have a deposit and have a MIP from HSBC which is just a bit of paper the website told me to print saying how much they might lend me, dont know if it counts for much? Ive saw a house i like and would now like to view it, if i liked it would i need to have a solicitor to put an offer in for me or can i do that myself or is it best to get one involved from the start like right now?

And if all went well how long does the whole porcess usualy take from offer accepted unitl keys in hand?

Thanks
