Hi,
I'm sure I know the answer but I thought I'd ask anyway. We are looking to get a new mortgage to buy a new house. It will be in my husbands name, he earns a good wage and has a good credit history, not one missed payment or anything bad. We don't have a huge deposit maybe 10% so we are saving towards that. We have about 900 spare each month after bills, food etc, and are looking to increase our mortage so we are paying out an additional 300 per month.
We had to make a few big purchases on our cc before Christmas and owe 2000 on a card with 7000 limit. We were going to pay it off by the end of feb. But my husband thinks we should leave the cc debt and save the money for our deposit.
We want to put our house on the market in march but we still need to save about £6000 towards the deposit. We were worrying in case we get an offer rally quickly ( which i doubt but hey you have to think posative) then don't have that extra 6 saved. Which is why my husband thinks we should save that 2000 we were going to pay off to the cc. I think it would affect the mortgage application having this debt.
Any opinions would be appreciated.
Many thanks,
